A home mandir is the spiritual core of any household. Setting it up according to Vastu Shastra ensures a continuous flow of positive energy, peace, and prosperity.

The Ideal Direction

According to Vastu, the northeast corner (Ishan Kona) is the most auspicious direction for a mandir. This direction is governed by Lord Shiva and represents spiritual growth. If northeast isn't possible, east or north are the next best options. The person praying should ideally face the east.

Material of the Mandir

Wood (like teak or rosewood) and marble are considered the purest materials for building the mandir structure. Avoid placing the mandir directly on the floor; it should be elevated on a platform or a wooden stand.

Placement of Idols and Utensils

• Idols: Should not be taller than 9 inches. They should not face each other, and they should be kept a few inches away from the wall.
• Metals: Copper and brass are the most highly recommended metals for pooja utensils (kalash, diyas, plates) because they attract and retain divine vibrations.
• Lighting: The diya should be placed in the southeast direction of the mandir to invite wealth and harmony.
