The Colors of the Universe

A peacock feather contains all the seven colors of the visible spectrum. By wearing it, Krishna shows that He is the source of all colors, all forms, and the entire universe. It represents His all-encompassing nature.

A Symbol of Purity

According to legend, the peacock is the only creature that observes absolute celibacy. It is believed that the peahen conceives by drinking the tears of the peacock. Thus, the feather represents supreme purity and divine, untainted love.

The Gift of Devotion

It is said that Krishna once played His flute so beautifully in the forest that the peacocks began to dance in ecstasy. When the dance ended, the king of peacocks offered his most beautiful feathers to the Lord as a token of devotion. Krishna, moved by this selfless offering, placed it on His head forever.
